Information
A Multimedia Traveling Exhibition
There are 55 portraits and 55 audio
stories. Mounted below between each portrait is a wooden box containing
a CD player and instructions. The viewer can listen to each story
with headphones. The stories range from 4 to 6 minutes each. Many
sites have used this exhibit as the centerpiece for related programming
including panel discussions, lectures and student field trips.
Photographs & Audio
All photographs are made using an
8 x 10 view camera. Photographs are black & white warm toned
silver prints. Each image is enlarged and mounted on 24"
x 30" archival board.
Audio narratives are recorded on a
digital format and edited and mastered using Pro Tools and Bias-Peak
and Deck software. I met with each person over a period of days
or weeks. The stories were edited from multiple interviews with
the approval of each participant.
Optional Easel Installation where site does not have gallery space
and lighting:
"Fine Line" can be installed
almost anywhere. Fifty-five easels have been specially constructed
for this exhibit. They have been designed to hold the photographs,
lights and audio components. With the optional easel installation,
the exhibit can be installed in schools, libraries, community
centers and galleries.
Space Requirements:
Each portraits with its accompanying
wooden box and CD takes approximately 5 running feet. The ideal
space for walls and easel installation is between 175 to 300 feet.
Venues with smaller spaces can use the easel installation which
can be installed around and through the room. The minimum space
requirement is approximately 150 feet.
Installation Time:
Museum & gallery installation
takes approximately seven/nine hours with four people assisting.
Optional easel installation for sites
that do not have gallery wall/lighting space takes approximately
four/six hours with five to seven volunteers assisting.
Rental Agreement & Shipping:
A deposit is due upon signing
of the Rental Agreement. The balance of rental payment is due
upon delivery and installation of exhibit. Total cost of shipping
depends on location of venue and includes delivery and removal
of the exhibit by truck. Promotional material available upon request.
